We
entered Copps Coliseum and managed to get to the merchandise line
before there was a huge line up and bought Edge dog tags. We
found our seats in the front row and in the corner and
waited.
At
7:25, Todd came out and announced the first match which was The Miz and
John Morrison versus CM Punk and Kofi Kingston for the WWE tag team
titles. The Miz and Morrison carried in their Slammy awards
for
the best tag team and carried out the trophies and the titles having
just beaten CM Punk and Kofi Kingston and winning the belts.
There
was a match for the United States Championship. Sheldon
Benjamin
owned it and Hurricane Helms did his best to beat Benjamin but Benjamin
proved to be the better wrestler and pinned Helms to retain his title.
There
was a diva tag team match, the women's champion Beth Phoenix and Maryse
versus Kelly Kelly and Eve Torres. It was an exciting and
fast
paced match and, although Beth and Maryse fought hard they lost.
In
the match between Matt Hardy and Jack Swagger the entire crowd seemed
to be pulling for Matt and after a long hard match, Matt
Hardy
beat him and kept his title.
There was a very quick match
between Kane and Charlie Haas, who was dressed up as Bret
Hart.
Being a Kane fan myself, I was thrilled when he dominated and scored
the pin.
A tough match to root for a winner was the Canadian
and current WWE champion Edge versus the extreme and aerial Jeff Hardy,
the match was exciting and was tough to call who would win.
Most
of the crowd wanted Jeff to win, but Edge had his fans too.
To
most of the audience's disappointment Edge climbed to victory by
spearing Jeff and pinning him.
Chris Jericho and John Cena
battled it out for the Heavyweight Championship. Just about
the
entire crowd wanted John Cena to win, and the few Chris
Jericho
fans were disappointed when John Cena's music played and he held his
belt above his head signaling that he'd won the match. He hung around a
little while longer while flashing his belt. That match was
the
main event. He walked over to where me and my mom were
standing,
shook only mom's hand then left.
At one point Santino Marella
came out and challenged a wrestler to come out and fight him.
The
Bogeyman came out from under the ring (we'd seen him sneak under the
ring covered by a sheet earlier) and foaming at the mouth scared
Santino who screamed like a girl and took off running with the Bogeyman
hot on his heels.
My favorite match was Mike Knox versus Rey
Mysterio(my favorite wrestler). As he was standing in the
ring
corner looking for where to throw his shirt, he made eye contact with
me and carefully threw his shirt so I could catch it. And I
did.
(It helped that I was mouthing please, please, please a lot) Mike Knox
was in control for most of the match, but Rey managed to beat the
bigger man and win the match. The entire audience seemed to
be
pleased with the result. And when Rey left he was still
celebrating his victory.
