HAMILTON
TIGER CATS August 03 2007 Tonight was "Blackout Night" so we arrived dressed all in black. Anyone wearing black received a black foam "Hammer Time" hammer. There weren't any programs this time, so nobody got any.
At the Pepsi pre-game party, there was a Pepsi booth where you got to choose which taste better; Diet Pepsi or Diet Coke. You didn't get to see them until after you chose.
Today, Stripes was dressed as "Super Stripes" and had fun squirting people with a water gun. We were hit. We got to our seats. There were some neat characters sitting around us. One looked liked Shawn Michaels, who is a wrestler.
When the Tiger Cats ran onto the field they were led out by Robbie, a real tiger. The flyover at this game was the Fairy Firefly, one of only two in the world.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers got to receive and the game was under way. And what a beginning it was! In literally no time at all, the Bombers had scored a touchdown. I thought the game was over, then and there.
But on our second offensive play of the game, Jesse Lumsden ran 69 yards for the TD. That was when I thought the game might not be over after all.
Not 5 minutes into the game, and the score was 7-7. Jesse Lumsden, who turned 25 today, was definitely our hero of the game. He ran 211 yards and scored 2 majors. Happy Birthday, Jesse! Winnipeg scored a safety, but all was not lost. All through the first quarter the Tigervision was in black and white.
In the second quarter, the Cats did ten plays resulting in a touchdown. A safety for the Cats resulted in the tigers leading 15 - 8 into the 2nd half. Many of the fans were feeling hopeful. We didn't do so well penalty-wise in the first half, but in the second half we only attracted 3 flags.
The halftime show was the world championship baton twirlers, who weren't so good. In the first play of the 2nd half, the Tigers used the advantage to throw to Talman, putting them on the 5 yard line. Next play, they scored a touchdown when Maas spotted Walker in the back of the end zone.
But the Bombers hadn't quit yet because Kevin Glenn threw 13 yards to Armstrong for a touchdown. The Cats were playing astronomically, though, because Maas found Nate Curry for the 4th TD of the game.
In the fourth quarter our last 2 touchdowns were a fumble recovery by Jojuan Armour, and a 75 yard run by Jesse Lumsden, sealing the victory for the Cats. In the 4th quarter Timmy Chang got some reps, and led the cats down the field.
End score: Tiger-Cats:43, Bombers:22 with 2 field goals and another safety. Here is a
