HAMILTON TIGER CAT'S
vs
Winnipeg Bluebombers

June 22 2007

The attendance was 22,153

BILL, if you are just here to look for photos of you and your little girls at the games, there is a domain just for you!  They are not here.

We drove to Ivor Wynne Stadium, parked nearby and walked in. We received a program and us girls got a carnation. We walked to our seats in the tents, and put up our signs.

We saw Ron Lancaster and chatted with him and asked for his autograph. Also on hand were CH TV hosts Bubba Smith, Ken Welch, and Fred Anderton.

The game was shown live on Cable 14, with hosts Neil Lumsden, and Todd Crocker. The final score was 24-20, with a crowd of 20,153. Matt Dunigan was there in a ref's uniform helping with the officiating.

Here are some photos of the teams warming up.

As the game started, we got our pizza and settled to watch. In the first quarter the Bombers kicked the ball and the Ti-Cats eventually returned it for a 4 yard toss touchdown, to Talman Gardner. Winnipeg got 2 field goals in the first. In the second quarter, Hamilton quarterback, Rocky Butler threw an interception to Davin Bush, which gave Winnipeg a touchdown, after he returned it 42 yards, to the 3 yard line. Winnipeg didn't get very far on the kick return thanks to the Ticat defense. #86 was injured and left. #14 put his knee down in the end zone giving Hamilton 2 points.

Ticats got a field goal putting them a point behind Winnipeg. Armour got injured on an interception. Corey Holmes and Hebert got into a fight after the play, which turned into a big pile up before it dispersed. In the third quarter Winnipeg kicked a field goal. The Tiger Cats boosted their score by Mike Myers also kicking a field goal. The McMaster cheerleaders, two time champs, cheered over the tabbies.

Kicker Pat Fleming, now of Winnipeg, gave up a safety when the ball was snapped over his head. Winnipeg did get a field goal. Winnipeg then used Justin Holland in the 4th quarter. Hamilton then used Richie Williams. He threw to Witherspoon and got a first down.

There was a quick turnover when there were 2 incomplete passes. There was an illegal punt out of bounds penalty again. Finally, Timmy Chang is back in as quarterback, and as the dance team did a show, he took the time for a conference.  Mark Myers tried for a field goal but it was blocked. Leaving the score at 20 - 18.

Another quick turnover by Winnipeg left the ball on the 48 yard line after the punt. Chang came back in and threw to Corey Holmes. Following that, he threw a long pass, but there was an interference call on Winnipeg's #18. After that, Chang threw complete to Witherspoon, 2nd down to Davis, leading to a field goal by Myers, with Chang holding the ball. There was a penalty for time delay but the Bombers declined the yardage penalty, and made him kick it from there.

This made the score Hamilton 21, and Winnipeg 20. Timothee had an interception on the 35 yard line which was thrown by the Bomber quarterback Justin Holland. Chang was back in as quarterback, and tossed it to Holmes, who was quickly swarmed after gaining about 1½ yards. They followed with the same play, which led them to position Myers for a field goal for 17 yards, just as the bombers call a time out. Mark Myers was good again with his field goal making the score Hamilton 24, and Winnipeg 20.

The Bombers were trying to get back on the board with Justin Holland in as quarterback again, but he was sacked by Dunbrack.  For the 2nd down, Winnipeg quarterback Holland threw the ball into waiting Tiger Cat's Timothee's hands, which he eventually fumbled trying to keep a hold on it. On the next toss, this time it went right into the hands of Ti-cat Kordic. This was one of the last plays of the game, with the Tiger cats winning their 2nd game of the season with a score of 24-20.
