HAMILTON TIGER CATS November 03, 2007 Hamilton 21 Edmonton 19 Check back for more details.
On November 3 2007 we drove to Ivor Wynne Stadium to watch Edmonton vs. Hamilton. Instead of the usual program, we got a Tiger Cat magazine called Black and Gold. It had statistical information, and profiles of the cheerleaders. It was fan appreciation night and the last game of the season. For the pre game, we saw the Burlington Teen Tour Band perform. We also posed with the Grey Cup, and met some past Ticat greats. They game finally began after the Air Cadets unravelled the worlds biggest Canadian flag while the Teen Tour band played Oh Canada. Edmonton Quarterback, Ricky Ray was on the sidelines to support the team, he was not dressed to play, but did make the trip to Hamilton. Hamilton kicked off and for the first 7 minutes nobody scored. Finally Setta kicked a field goal. This was followed by Fleming of Edmonton conceding a safety, and then Setta kicked his longest field goal of the season at 53 yards. This set the score 6-1 for Hamilton. There were some T-shirts thrown into the crowd and if it had a number on it you won a game worn helmet. In the second quarter, new Edmonton kicker Warren Kean from Dundas scored with a 42 yard field goal. Hamilton did not answer back, and Edmonton went on to score a touchdown by LeFors running it in 8 yards, and a convert followed by another Kean field goal. With 4:40 left in the second quarter, they took out LeFors and put in Steven Jyles. Edmonton was leading 13-11 going into half time. Several Ti Cat players were honoured at half time, from the 1957, and 1967 Grey Cup Championships. We were able to get team photos autugraphed by all the players present. From the '57 team, there was Ray Truant #87, Conrad Andreychuk #89, and a few others. From the '67 Champs, there were Angelo Mosca #68, Bill Danychuck #55, John Hohman #57, Charlie Turner #66, Garney Henley #26, Ron Brewer #35, Stewart Stover #25, and Gord Christian #72. Joe Zuger was inducted to the Wall of Fame, with his # 9.
In the third quarter Setta kicked
yet another field goal, and Walker ran back 71 yards on the only punt return touchdown of
the season. Setta kicked the convert keeping the Cats in the lead, with a score of
21 -13. |
