B.C. LIONS

October 26,  2007

Hamilton  19   British Columbia  27

Attendance: 16,000 est. on rainy night

Dave Dickenson and Steeltown Kids

Here we are with B.C. Quarterback Dave Dickenson.

We also got his autograph, and he gave us his glove.

He is awesome.

Hamilton Quarter Casey Printers was injured by the end of the first half and Richie Williams took over.  Casey hurt his finger, and left for the hospital.   For B.C.,  Jarious Jackson played for almost the whole first half, when he had to leave because of sore ribs. Buck Pierce took over, but left shortly after from a sore shoulder.  Dave Dickenson played the whole second half .

Here is a video of Dave Dickenson trying to outrun a tackle, while a guy in front of me is heckling Paul McCallum and other players until the police escort him out.

After a while of sitting in the bleachers, the Jr. cheerleaders preformed, the Burlington Teen Tour Band played, and the players were introduced.  The Band played Oh Canada and Nick Setta kicked off the game.

The ball was retrieved by Ian Smart.
Hamilton's Jykine Bradley intercepted a Jarious Jackson throw in the endzone at 11:51 in the first quarter.  This was followed by a cheerleader performance.  Setta had to punt and Smart got nowhere with the ball.

Jackson threw to Jason Clermont in the endzone but was incomplete.  After another miss Geroy Simon brought in the TD and Paul McCallum kicked the conversion.

After a 4-yard run Casey Printers was sacked.  The 2nd quarter was opened by the cheerleaders.  The Lions charged upfield and Jackson was sacked by Roger Dunbrack.  With a pass to Josh Boden B.C. got near the goal line, but got put on the 20 for unnecessary roughness.

The next play never got off the ground and the Lions got a time count violation penalty.  Jackson couldn't get the ball off and managed to outdodge the Ticat defence fr only a short while before getting smothered.  A mighty toss to the endzone was knocked aside by Tony Tiller and the Ticat Phillip Gauthier was injured.

McCallum's 35-yard field goal hit the post and B.C. kicked off.  A throw from Casey Printers to Jason French was complete, but French dropped it and B.C.'s Cody Banks picked it up.

Jackson threw a 20-yard pass to Jason Clermont and the Lions rushed 7 yards.  Jackson tried to get the ball off but Kenton Keith stopped him.  Then Jackson was complete to Paris Jackson for a B.C. TD, making the score 14-0, Lions.

Armstead ran 20 yards on the return.  Printers was escorted off the field with an injury and in went Richie Williams at 3:23 left.  Caulley ran 17 yards, and Williams and Chris Bauman went 2-for-2.  Caulley fell over the endzone for a touchdown and Setta was successful.  Setta had a low punt that went 85 yards and rolled into the endzone for a Tiger-Cat point.

Buck Pierce's throw went incomplete but the next one was grabbed by Joe Smith.  Hamilton earned 30 yards of penalties after a Pierce run.  B.C. took a timeout and Pierce ran 8 yards.  The half ended with a B.C. field goal.

There was a limbo contest and the band came back.  When the game restarted Armstead returned a little. We asked Dave Dickenson for his glove and he said yes, after the game.

The Tiger-Cats had to punt, then the Lions had to punt. Williams went incomplete.  At 9:25 in the 3rd quarter, Dickenson came in and threw a TD to Clermont.

Williams to Kori Dickerson was incomplete and Setta kicked out of bounds for a point.  Dickenson went back in, and then both teams had to punt.  B.C.'s Sherko Haji-Rasouli limped off the field.

Armstead returned the B.C. punt 11 yards.  The Tiger-Cats had to punt again and the 3rd quarter ended with a 13 yard toss to Clermont.

The McMaster cheerleaders performed and Dickenson threw an interception to Sir James Delgado, who was injured bringing down the ball.  Williams barely managed a complete throw to Nate Curry.

Williams was incomplete on 3rd down and Dickenson's ball went out of bounds.  The Tiger-Cats got some momentum going and then Williams got sacked.  French got a 13-yard pass and Armstead missed what would have been a touchdown.  The cheerleaders followed a field goal and a rowdy fan in the bleachers was escorted out by police.

Nautyn McKay-Loescher was injured, Williams was sacked and Setta punted.  B.C. managed a field goal and Zeke Moreno passed the Tiger-Cats all-time record for tackles, 107.

Williams was forced out of bounds.  French managed to bring in a TD and Setta made an onside kick.  Dickenson waited out the last 26 seconds and the game ended 27-19, Lions.

We made our way to the end of the stadium  and waited for the players from the visiting team came out.  First we got Geroy Simon's autograph, and kept waiting for Dave.

Dave Dickenson came out but he went back to get a glove after explaining that he had left it with his equipment manager to give to us.  He came back and signed a ticket, and after he got interviewed for CBC we had our picture taken with him.

OOn Military Day at Ivor Wynne, the Canadian Armed Forces were on-hand to distribute dog tags, highlighters, frisbees, mechanical pencils, pens, flags, and information to any who wanted them.

The Burlington Teen Tour Band welcomed the players, and entertained at half time.

The players prepare on the sidelines.
